Facebook Memories

Many yesterdays ago I was sitting in my credit union bored while waiting, I placed my hat and glasses on the table and snapped a photo. Decided it looked kind of unique so captioned it with "women are real" and posted it on social media. Facebook bounced the photo back at me today as a cherished memory.

I had a moment of sad reflection upon realizing the statement has grown more controversial with time.

Women are real. I am one. XX chromosomes, adult human female. That decades ago I masculinized my social gender appearance to "look" masculine didn't make me a man. Not really sure what it made me, stuck now in this between space, wherein there exists a severe discontinuity between my sex based behavioral characteristics and my appearance.

Male coworkers are frequently confused by my emotional reactions to social cues.
